Building Skills for a Secure Future

North Lebanon Township was the site chosen for our new 7,200 sq. ft. training center, which was completed and dedicated in October of 1988. In 2004, a 30,000 sq ft addition was built in order to better train our members. The facility, equipped with the highest quality materials and machinery, is designed to prepare the next generation of carpenters and millwrights for a solid and challenging future in their respective fields.

As of October of 2003, the Lebanon training center operates under the direction of the Carpenters' Joint Apprenticeship Training Program of Greater Pennsylvania.

Apprentice Trained Craftsmen

Quality Credentials

The Joint Committee training program is approved by the United States Department of Labor's Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training and is registered with the Pennsylvania Apprenticeship Council.

All of the Apprentices are registered by the Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, and at the completion of the four-year program, a Certificate of Completion is issued. A Journeyman's Certificate is also issued by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America..

Earn While You Learn

On-the-job training turns enthusiastic apprentices into experienced journeymen. The training is provided by the Association's contractors on construction projects in the NorthEastern and Central Pennsylvania regions. Wages are paid from the first hour of employment at the negotiated pay scale.

Apprentice rates increase every six months for the first two years and then each year until reaching journeyman status at the end of the four-year program.

The Training Schedule

All apprentices are required to attend five 40-hour training sessions each year of the four-year program. Sessions are scheduled once every two-to-three months. Initial training begins in the classroom with safety, mathematics and other fundamentals, followed by comprehensive hands-on training in the shop areas. Attendance at the center requires the apprentice to be absent from the job, and there is no reimbursement for related training.

Apprenticeship Training

Apprentices may choose from the following areas of instruction while at the Lebanon training facility:
